Let’s Go Racing!
The Kart-to-Car Driver Program is a development pathway designed to help karting drivers transition into race cars.
What the Kart to Car Driver Program Is
The Kart to Car Driver Program helps karting drivers make the transition into real race cars through a structured arrive-and-drive development program.
Instead of trying to figure out car racing on their own, drivers join a professional team environment where they can focus on learning, improving, and gaining real experience behind the wheel.
Drivers compete in a NASA race season in a professionally prepared Spec Miata, supported by the LeadFoot Racing team with coaching, race preparation, and driver development systems designed specifically for young drivers moving up from karting.
The program combines real racing, professional coaching, simulator training, and driver development to give drivers a clear and supported path into car racing.
Our goal is simple: help drivers make the move from karting to race cars faster, safer, and more professionally.
Who This Program Is For
The Kart-to-Car Driver Program is designed for drivers who are ready to move beyond karting and begin exploring race car competition.
This includes:
Karting drivers interested in transitioning into cars
Drivers who are committed to improving their skills
Families looking for clearer guidance on the next step in motorsports
The program is intended for drivers who are serious about progressing in racing and are willing to put in the work required to move forward.
Program Focus
The Kart to Car Driver Program is designed to help young drivers make the transition from karting to full-size race cars in a structured, professional environment.
Moving from karts to cars is a major step. The speed, weight, racecraft, and professionalism required in car racing are significantly different. This program helps drivers bridge that gap through a combination of real race experience, coaching, and driver development systems.
Our program is built around three core areas of development.
Real Race Experience
Drivers compete in a six-weekend NASA race season in Colorado driving a professionally prepared Spec Miata race car.
Each race weekend includes:
• Fully prepared race car
• Trackside crew and support
• Race preparation and maintenance
• Tires, fuel, and consumables
• Data analysis and coaching sessions
• Team hospitality and paddock support
This provides drivers with a true arrive-and-drive racing experience, allowing them to focus on learning and performing rather than managing equipment and logistics.
Structured Driver Development
Beyond simply racing, the program includes a structured development system designed to accelerate a driver's growth.
Drivers receive support through:
• Professional coaching and session-by-session feedback
• Data review and performance analysis
• Simulator training sessions with guided instruction
• Driver fitness and nutrition plans
• Monthly progress evaluations and driver report cards
This combination of on-track learning and off-track training helps drivers build the skills required to compete safely and effectively in race cars.
Professional Motorsport Preparation
Success in racing requires more than driving ability. Drivers must also learn how the professional side of motorsports works.
The program helps drivers develop:
• An understanding of race weekend operations
• Professional conduct in the paddock
• Media and sponsor communication skills
• Sponsorship outreach and brand partnerships
Through the Race-Ready Sponsorship System, drivers learn how to approach sponsorship in a structured and professional way.
A Clear Path Into Car Racing
The goal of the Kart to Car Driver Program is to give drivers a realistic, supportive, and professional first step into race car competition.
By combining race experience, coaching, simulator training, fitness preparation, and sponsorship education, the program helps young drivers approach car racing with confidence, preparation, and a clear path forward.
“LFR does truly amazing work! Through mentorship and hard work, I was able to go from a back marker in Quarter Midgets, to a front runner! And I’ve enjoyed every minute of it!”
- Liam Koenig, LFR Spec Miata Driver
